Leominster Seed Swap 2019 Leominster Seed Swap 2019

Join us at Leominster Seed Swap 2019 where ECHO’s Eaton Barn Community Garden project will be having a stall. This event is hosted by Transition Leominster and held in the beautiful Priory Church. More details of the event can be found here CLICK

They will be sharing the success of the Community Garden project last year and ready to tell you all about the new features at the garden, including; the new outdoor classroom, farm shop and expanding number of chickens.

Last year’s harvest was so successful they approached Parry’s Fruit and Veg who very kindly sold the surplus for them to raise funds. Plans this year include extending the growing area, heritage varieties, a sensory garden and development of accessible fishing.

Another priority is improving security after an unfortunate break-in earlier this year when garden tools and adaptive cycles were taken.

Eaton Barn Community Garden is helped by Haygrove Community Gardens and numerous kind and generous individuals who have given their time to transform this 4 acre site into a thriving place for people to enjoy.

The project is part of ECHO and one of their day opportunities, offering placements for people who enjoy gardening or would benefit from the space Eaton Barn offers. Participants are supported by keen staff and volunteers who will offer encouragement to involve everyone in the many tasks.

Parts of the site are still being developed and work at the moment includes clearing a large area for a wild flower meadow to encourage more wildlife. It might be winter but there is always plenty to do and on the worst of day everyone can sit by the woodburner and plan ahead. And there’s always Pumpkin and Eric, the two cats, in need of some fuss.

The project sells eggs and in season produce and is open every day to the public, Mon – Fri 10 -4. Eaton Barn can be found just out of Leominster. Take the A44 Worcester Road and turn right for Stoke Prior by Dom’s Bike Stop. Continue about a quarter of a mile and it’s on your right hand side. Plenty of off road parking.
