About Face Theatre Company, just one of a handful of professional UK theatre companies working with actors with learning disabilities, is bringing a unique show to this year’s Brighton Fringe.

This collection of five theatre-for-one plays, We Are All Stories, is inspired by historical tales from around Herefordshire. The stories are beautifully presented by the actors and puppets in a magical space created for an audience of one or two, with audience members moving between the individual pieces.

About Face Theatre Company, ‘We Are All Stories’

May 11th & 12th,  5.45pm.   May 13th, 11am & 5.45pm.  £5.00

Brighton Toy and Model Museum,
52 – 55 Trafalgar Street, BN1 4EB

About Face will take you on a journey from pre-history tropical Herefordshire, taking in a wartime love story and encountering the Mermaid of Marden, a little-known legend from the County. A spinster spins tales of Leominster Gold and Hereford’s history passes by the windows of Hereford’s Black and White House…

About Face will also be performing excerpts from  We Are All Stories at the Fringe City event, New Road venue, on Saturday 12th May at 1.30pm.

A photo and interview opportunity has been arranged following these performances at 1.50pm on Saturday 12th May.

Please contact Jess McKenzie on 01568 616301
or email admin@aboutfacetheatre.org.uk to confirm attendance.

As important to the performances is the audience’s encounter with the actors, who highlight the part people with learning disabilities have in the UK’s fabric of diversity, the performances helping make them ‘visible’ to the wider community.

About Face actor, Laura Walne, commented, “We’re going to the Brighton Fringe Festival and I’m totally excited about doing the show there. Being in About Face makes me feel good – I like being creative and challenged. I never give up on a challenge. Never”.

Jess MacKenzie, Artistic Director of About Face added, We Are All Stories is very distinctive in style. The individual pieces were devised within the company and show the ambition and skills our learning disabled actors have in puppetry, storytelling and theatre.

We look forward to our work standing shoulder to shoulder with other theatre companies”
